In a world first, Sony Shark Tank in partnership with MIE Lab and The University of Adelaide have created a secondary school entrepreneurship program that will be delivered in both local and regional private and public schools across South Australia in 2019, Shark Tank eSchool.
Entrepreneurship is growing at an incredible rate and its importance in education is being recognised in building foundational skills for the 21st Century through developing critical and creative thinking and encouraging innovative approaches to problem solving.
The Shark Tank eSchool (STeS) program has been designed by MIE Lab in partnership with The University of Adelaide (UofA) to encourage students to think creatively and develop solutions to real world problems, while prototyping their ideas and pitching and presenting these to a panel of experts. By equipping students with the skills, knowledge, understanding and personal capabilities to participate and successfully compete in a fast-paced global society, the students of today can build their own futures for tomorrow.
Specifically tailored for secondary school students (years 10-11), the themes of each module have been carefully selected and designed to ensure that students are actively learning and engaged in new venture start-up activities, offering a step-by-step process and guide to entrepreneurial start-up and innovation.
Delivered in schools via a Train-the-Trainer model, teachers are taken through a rigorous and intensive 2-day seminar designed specifically to assist, add value and equip teachers with the necessary knowledge to deliver the STeS course within their own schools.
Through the STeS program schools, teachers and students will have access to lesson plans, resources and activities, on-going support from MIE Lab and The University of Adelaide and the expertise and know-how to guide and encourage the imagination of young South Australians.
